Send us a video!
To launch New Deal Spotlights, we are making a short promotional video to highlight the New Deal’s vibrant legacy and we need your submissions!
The video will be a compilation of everyday folks enjoying and interacting with their favorite New Deal sites. To get a sense of what the finished piece will look like, check out this crowd-sourced music video: Próxima Parada - Pair of Shoes
What to do:
Film a short clip of you and your friends and family enjoying and interacting with your favorite New Deal site. We want to represent people of all ages, including youth, so if you have friends, family or students under 30 who are interested, please invite them to join in. What we’d like to see is genuine enthusiasm and interaction with the site. There is no right or wrong way to do this – kids enjoying a park, a sweeping gesture towards a New Deal mural, waving and driving over a New Deal bridge. Your videos do not have to be professionally produced – a smartphone is all you need.
Some things to keep in mind:
Make sure we can clearly see you and see the New Deal site in the background
Use your smartphone's highest resolution
Any format works: vertical or horizontal, selfie-style or not
Audio is welcome but optional
Keep the clip short (5-10 seconds)
How to find New Deal sites near you: Check out the Living New Deal online map – you can self-locate on the map or use the search function to find sites by city, state, type, etc.
How to submit: Once you have completed your clip, please upload it here.
The legal stuff: We will also need a standard release form for everyone appearing in your clip. This can be filled out and e-signed here. Any minors (under 18) will need their parent or legal guardian to use the form here.
Thanks for participating. We can’t wait to see your videos. We’ll let you know when the finished compilation video is up on the New Deal Spotlights website. Also please feel free to forward this call for submissions widely!
